Sourdough Ciambella is an Italian lemon, simple, light cake often baked in a ring mold pan and typically prepared with flour, oil, baking powder, milk, eggs, salt, sugar, and pure vanilla paste from vanilla pods. Star flavor is the lemon - both zest and juice.
The addition of sourdough doesn’t add any sourness to the cake, but it gives a tenderer crumb thanks to the well-fermented flour.
The overall flavor is sweet but not overly sweet and beautifully lemony - hence traditionally a breakfast cake with coffee or an afternoon snack.
